A set of probes check gaps between flutes of the piston and piston rings (fig. 2.154).

The gap for the top compression ring has to be within 0,04–0,08 mm.

The gap for the lower compression ring has to be within 0,025–0,07 mm.

The gap for an oil scraper ring has to be within 0,08–0,22 mm.

At an exit of sizes of gaps for the specified values replace the piston with a piston finger or piston rings.
