2.2.10.7. Check of a gap between cores and the directing plugs of valves

Check of a gap between a core and the directing plug of the valve is made in two ways.
First way.

Raise a valve head on 25 mm, then measure by the indicator movement of the valve in the direction of arrows at an angle 90 ° to a camshaft axis. A half of the received size is equal to value of a gap between a core and the directing plug of the valve (fig. 2.120).
Second way.
Measure diameter of a core of the valve and internal diameter of the directing plug.

Gap size between the directing plug and a core of the valve, is calculated by subtraction of sizes of two measured diameters (fig. 2.121).
Nominal gap:
– for inlet valves – 0,015–0,048 mm;
– for final valves – 0,029–0,062 mm.
