ATTENTION Before performance of any works with elements of a security system or near them, surely block EBU of safety cushions by means of the diagnostic unit. At the same time all chains of ignition are blocked, and on the dashboard the alarm lamp of safety cushions (lights up constant light at the included ignition).

NOTE This operation does not demand use of the elevator for cars.

Put car wheels in position for the movement on a straight line.

Disconnect wires from plugs of the rechargeable battery, since the minus plug.

Disconnect a cover of the hatch of access to the lower casing (fig. 5.7).

Remove a side guard (fig. 5.8).

Unscrew five screws of fastening of the lower casing and remove its (fig. 5.9).

Turn a steering wheel half way to get access to an opening in the lower part of a steering wheel.

Insert the screw-driver into an opening, disconnect the clip shown by an arrow in the figure 5.10 and remove a safety cushion.

Take the holder of the socket of a safety cushion the screw-driver with a flat edge (fig. 5.11).

Remove the socket and a safety cushion of the driver (fig. 5.12).

Establish wheels in situation for the movement on a straight line.

Turn off a bolt of fastening of a steering wheel and remove its (fig. 5.13).

Turn off three lower screws and remove the top and lower understeering casings (fig. 5.14).

Note position of the block of understeering switches.

Make sure that the tag on a contact disk settles down opposite to the index.

Remove the block of understeering switches (fig. 5.15).

Unscrew the screw.

Disconnect the block from a steering column.

Disconnect:

– blocks of wires (switch of screen wipers, PDU of the audio system, switch of external lighting, indexes of turn and fog light);

– a block of wires from a contact disk.

Unscrew two screws.

Disconnect two top clamps.

Remove the second lower understeering casing (fig. 5.16).

Partially disconnect top of a guard of devices.

Separate the socket of system of navigation Carmi-nat (depending on complete set level) (fig. 5.17).

Unscrew the screw, wring out both spring latches and remove a guard of devices (fig. 5.18).

Turn off a bolt of terminal connection of a fork of the cardan hinge of a steering shaft (fig. 5.19).

Disconnect the anti-theft device the screw-driver with a flat edge.

Separate the ignition lock socket the screw-driver with a flat edge (fig. 5.20).

Unscrew two nuts of fastening of a steering column from a combination of devices (fig. 5.21).

Remove a steering column (fig. 5.22).

Installation is made as it should be, the return to removal.

ATTENTION The steering wheel has to come freely into vents (vents have the directing sites). Try not to damage vents of the focusing sites. Surely replace a fastening bolt after each removal of a steering wheel.

NOTE Surely replace a bolt and an eccentric nut of a fork of the cardan hinge after each removal. On a new steering column the eccentric nut of a fork of the cardan hinge of a steering shaft is established.

Observe the direction of installation of a bolt and an eccentric nut of a fork of the cardan hinge of a steering shaft (fig. 5.23).

Wrap an eccentric nut and a bolt.

Record a nut of terminal connection in a nest (an opening on a fork of the cardan hinge of a steering shaft).

Tighten the required moment:

– nuts of fastening of a steering column (21 N · l);

– bolt of terminal connection of a fork of the cardan hinge of a steering shaft (21 N · м).

Attach wires to plugs of the rechargeable battery, since the plus plug.

Carry out a full inspection by means of the diagnostic unit.

Remove from memory of malfunction which appeared as a result of performance of work, the diagnostic unit.
